There are words that to me, an evolutionary astrologer, are common everyday words; words like "cusp", words like "node" and words like "ascendant"...I don't bat an eyelash at these words...they're "home" to me in the EA world.
Then there are words like HOUSE! Now I know what a HOUSE is! Brilliant, huh! But I'm not talking brick or wooden structures built by construction people. What I AM talking about is "areas of life". TWELVE areas of life that affect each and every one of us each and every second of our life because we LIVE IN THEM…like HOUSES!!
This article is a FIRST in series of TWELVE articles on the HOUSES in ASTROLOGY and how they and YOU relate to one another and WHY you feel, behave, act and react the way you do in each area of life.
See...there IS a "method to your madness"! It's NOT all in your imagination...Ah! Your IMAGINATION! But that's not about the FIRST house...so...let's open the door and see what the first house is all about.
We’re starting this series with the HOUSES but we also have the PLANETS and the SIGNS to consider… (but…those are for another series….) HOWEVER…I will keep this sentence in throughout these articles…(‘cause it’s important)
- PLANETS tell the WHAT – the part of the mind we’re working with.
- SIGNS tell us the WHY and the HOW this is going to happen.
- HOUSES tell us the WHERE; the area of life the “what” is going to do the “why and “how”. (Isn’t this SO cool!)
Well, you may be happy to find out that the FIRST house is ALL about YOU! Isn’t that NICE! It’s about you in the following ways:
- How you go through life…
- The face you show the world
- Our attitude toward the outside world
- Our instinctive reaction TO the world
- How you act and RE-act to circumstances in your life…your “behavior stereotypes
- It deals with your health…(and so does the 6th house so stay tuned)
- First House rules the HEAD in the physical body….
- It governs the stamina of the physical body
- The “outer form” of the body and it beauty or defects
One of the most important facts about the first house is that the ZODIAC SIGN (and there are 12 of them, too) that governs the first house, also governs your personality. There are 12 signs in the zodiac. I’ve listed them in their classic order.
- **Aries
- Taurus
- Gemini
- Cancer
- Leo
- Virgo
- Libra
- Scorpio
- Sagittarius
- Capricorn
- Aquarius
- Pisces
If you’ll notice the little asterisks behind ARIES, that’s because ARIES RULES or GOVERNS the first house in a CLASSIC astrology chart….BUT…..ANY ONE of the signs can govern the first house…and your personality and all of the “bulleted points” listed above.,
So THINK about this! You have 12 areas of life….I just listed some descriptions about the 1st area or HOUSE. Each HOUSE is governed by one of the 12 SIGNS, and EACH SIGN has it’s OWN characteristics….SO…whichever sign RULES or GOVERNS the 1st HOUSE…..in combination with the QUALTIES of the house….Those two factors go into defining WHY you act a certain way concerning all of the above. And THAT’S just the “tip of the iceberg”.
A person whose first house is ruled by Aries will be someone who uses his or her raw, instinctual energy a LOT…They are people who probably have LOT of energy and use it quickly. They may be a bit self-centered depending on what evolutionary STATE they’re in…(more about EVOLUTIONARY STATES in future newsletters) And they will go through life TOTALLY DIFFERENTLY than a person who has LIBRA on the cusp of the first house.
AH!...But NO TWO ARIES or 1st HOUSES are created equally…and one’s SUN SIGN is NOT the sum total of who they are…..there’s a reason for that….stay tuned…11 more houses to go.
