VIRGO: “VIRGO -- To Be PERFECT... or... to Simply to BE!”

On Friday, August 22, 2008, the SUN will enter the sign of VIRGO….Everyone on the planet who is a VIRGO will have a birthday sometime between then and September 22nd.  HAPPY AND BLESSED SOLAR RETURN to all of you!

So what about the title of this article?  Hmmm!  Well….Like every sign in the zodiac, Virgo has a HIGH SIDE and a LOW side….Please remember that neither side is better or worse.  Every time someone or some THING is functioning via their “low” side, it’s an opportunity to stop, be AWARE of the energy….most likely you don’t like it and you’ll FEEL that you don’t like it….(we have built in GPS’s ya know…they’re called “our feelings”)  and move forward.  The operative word is “AWARE”.  THAT’S where Virgo gets its reputation.

There’s an entire history behind each sign and that’s another article but basically Virgos are noted for certain qualities that create a sense of “awareness” and because they are SO aware especially of DETAILS, their most important work is to BE DISCERNING as opposed to CRITICAL.

Everyone has Virgo in SOME HOUSE (in some area of life) in their chart.  The area of life where YOUR Virgo dwells is where you need to be “discerning” with the following Virgoan characteristics.

So what ABOUT that title anyway?  First of all, “perfect” doesn’t really exist…we just THINK it does.  Because everything on the planet, in this dimension is always and continually evolving…nothing can remain still enough to be in a state of “perfection”!
Virgos get a bad rap many times because they’re accused of being “perfectionists”! (Now please remember that ALL VIRGOS ARE NOT CREATED EQUALLY! And….there are greater and lesser degrees of presenting a desire for perfection)  We SAY they are “perfectionists” because they’re  really, really  DETAIL oriented…and that’s a GOOD thing. They can catch a lot of mistakes, they have an eye for numbers, they can analyze keenly.  However, because they see the details, they can get all wrapped up in the details and they can’t see the forest for the TREES….Sometimes they can’t even see the TREE because they’re too focused on the BARK!  DETAILS!!!  (and here’s an aside…the opposite side of Virgo is Pisces and sometimes the Virgo gets into the watery-world of Pisces delusion and the details that become important to them get in the way of clear-headedness)

Because they like details they make really good editors, analysts, accountants….you get the picture…and that’s GREAT! But what if those details prevent those Virgos from tolerating others who are not so detail-oriented?  AH!  Therein lies the “perfectionism”. 

So what are some likeable and easier-going Virgoan traits?

• They have inquiring minds.
• They’re hard workers and very practical.
• Most times they can rise above a defeatist attitude and get back on that horse.
• They’re pretty health-oriented…(Virgo rules or governs the 6th house in a classic chart and along with how you serve others, it shares the topic of your health)
• They need quiet to rest their minds- they have very, very busy minds—always thinking.
• They can be conscientious students
• They generally can be depended on to “get the job done” and done well.  (Don’t push them… for they will attempt “perfection”!!)

So this is pretty good….look at all those good qualities…so what are the issues with Virgo? Where are the “not-so-easy-going traits?

• Virgos can worry – a LOT!
• They’ll work and work and work and work and work….to get it “just right”  (yuh! The “P” word)…and sometimes no matter how right it is…it’s never good enough.  (It’s subconscious a lot of the time)
• Because they work so hard and can worry so much, their health can suffer.  Virgo rules or governs the bowels, the intestines, duodenum, and food assimilation.  We all know what worry does to the digestive tract:  Acid reflux anyone?  Ulcers?  Imodium for you know what ‘cause you worried yourself silly!!
• Because Virgo is ruled by the planet Mercury, Virgoans can have highly sensitive nervous systems and find it difficult to relax.

These are just a few of the Virgoan pro and con traits but remember…..it depends on the AREA OF LIFE or the HOUSE that Virgo occupies in your chart as to where these traits show themselves in your life.  If for instance you have VIRGO in the FIRST HOUSE (the house we talked about in the above article in this issue)….then you may find that you’re pretty hard on yourself, expect a lot of yourself.  You may find that you have a hard time accepting a compliment or you may find that you are the one who on the job, gets the job done and is called upon all the time to “do it exactly”.
Virgo – The MOST important quality about Virgo is DISCERNMENT.  Discernment is a very personal process. 

• Only YOU can discern if you are working to SERVE others or working IN SERVITUDE TO others.  It’s a subtle but important difference.
• Only YOU can discern and change your thoughts from worry to allowance.
• Only YOU can discern how you FEEL physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually and be honest with your SELF about those feelings.
• Only YOU can be in charge of yourself and NOT the OTHER….They have there own Virgo.
• Only YOU can discern about yourself if you’ve got yourself in a “straight-jacket” lifestyle or if living “out of the box” just might feel GOOD.
• Only YOU can discern the level of freedom from worry about what others think about YOU…(Most folks are too busy worrying about themselves.
• AND….only YOU can decide that PERFECTION DOES NOT EXIST ON THIS DIMENSION…not for long anyway…and that the only thing that is EVER constant is CHANGE!
