Like the ram in springtime, Aries desires to forge a path where perhaps no one else has trodden. Aries desire to achieve this idea is instinctual. There is an enormous drive to succeed. Arians live with a deep feeling of raw, instinctual energy.
ARIES need freedom; freedom to express itself, freedom to be subjective. Why all this NEED? The need all of this "self-freedom" is necessary for the soul to evolve. The soul needs essential freedom in order to evolve itself. Therefore, the soul asks questions! The question IS, however, do I hear the questions that are calling me forward and do I listen for the answers?
You see, the soul knows why it came into this life. We all have certain desires that move us forward or push us forward, even when we go kicking and screaming all the way. Deep down, we know! Deep down we FEEL our "is-ness" and we FEEL what we should be doing with it. THAT'S all first house stuff...and ARIES is the foundation of the first house (area of life) in anyone's chart.
Aries makes us "face the music" so to speak in whatever area of life the sign Aries governs in our chart. So how does Aries work to make us "face our own music" and "sing our own song" so to speak?
- Aries is like raw, instinctual energy. It just wants to experience and that’s why when we look at a high-lighted Aries signature in someone’s chart, we see that the soul is looking for something NEW; for new experiences, a new way of being, new relationships, new adventures to try on and try out. There is an impulsivity to the try the “new” and because of this need to exercise this impulsivity, Aries needs the freedom to do it.
- Many times Aries will feel like they have something special to accomplish again, needing the freedom to explore how, when, where and what they will do with this feeling. Many times they will feel insecure with this new exploration and they cannot define why….that’s because usually when they think of a new idea or a new experience, they really have not thought it through thoroughly enough. Again it is this instinctive impulse and of course they feel unnerved by it. This is how they learn more about themselves and who they are.
- This is where the “self-orientation” comes in. Usually, when an Aries wants to try something, they’ll initiate it quickly, try it, check it out and it’s over. Now the term “over” is relative depending on the activity but Aries is like the fire that needs new kindling in order to stay alive and when you throw the kindling on, the fire gets revved up…but quickly loses that intensity.
- Because of it’s desire to learn more about itself, an Aries can try on different experiences and be attracted to all kinds of people, or be attracted to all kinds of activities, or have many, many ideas that they never follows through on. And that’s where the Aries can feel confused and unfulfilled for it can flit from one thing to the next, always trying to break new ground and not “grounding” itself long enough to feel successful results.
- Sexually, Aries can have a difficult time being monogamous (again, depending on the placement of Aries in one’s chart – this is not an absolute statement for all Arians –nothing in astrology or life is absolute.) Aries is a male sign and there a lot of male initiative sexually. Sexuality can be assertive and/or aggressive. If there is going to be growth in a relationship, commitment is essential. It helps for two people to have an “Arian” energy that’s compatible. It would certainly help if they were both willing to discover many aspects of life together.
- Aries need plenty of exercise to keep them selves healthy. It’s a male, “outward”, active sign. Having said that, they need not overstrain their bodies….they can get carried away with excitement and enthusiasm
- Arian parents can be enthusiastic about their children and make like fun and exciting, however they need to remember that just because they (the parents) enjoy excitement, that doesn’t always translate into their children liking the same thing. They may have a quiet child who needs the consideration of less excitement.
Wherever Aries appears in your chart, that’s the area of life where you will feel the impulse to try something new, to assert yourself, to experiment. This is a good thing but always remember that the other(s) is important as well. As much as we all need to “go for it,” let’s remember to do so understanding that everything is energy, what goes around comes around (even if 400 years from now) and as important as it is to develop our SELVES, we live interdependently consequently needing to give consideration to others as well as ourselves.
